Hi Amir, great to meet you! Can you tell us a bit about yourself?
Thank you! I’m Amir Seifouri, approaching 40 quite soon. I love music, beer, and spending quality time with my cat.
Now, we’re curious, how has your journey been leading up to today?
I’ve worn many hats in my career, from teaching English and music to HR, and now as an Azure Data Engineer. I studied organizational psychology for my master’s degree and English translation for my bachelor’s.
A music-playing former English teacher, that’s fascinating! Tell us a bit about what you do today.
Certainly, it’s been an exciting journey! Currently, I work as an Azure Data Engineer in an enabler team. I handle a lot of proof-of-concept tasks, and it’s almost like an internal consultancy.
Sounds like a lot of fun! Can you share what you find most rewarding about your job?
The best part of my job is that I get to work with the latest technology in my workplace. It has been a requirement in every interview I’ve had, from LIA ( earning in Work ), and will be in the future.
When and how did you become interested in BI-related roles?
After working with data for my master’s degree, I fell in love with gaining insights from data! Given my background in business psychology, BI was a natural starting point.
What advantages do you see in pursuing a vocational education like YH ( Yrkeshögskola )?
Being familiar with academic systems, Nackademin is the best shortcut for progress in Sweden (if you have enough drive and know the goals, of course). The best part is the Learning in Work (LIA).
How do you see the future, and how will the industry evolve?
The future in the realm of data is as bright as the supernova at a disco party! Especially with the breakthroughs in AI.
Yay! Let`s do a little dance for that! Finally, any advice for students considering a career as a BI analyst?
I would advise new students to set their goals first. Know why you are here at Nackademin. From my perspective, having lived in four countries and studied more than half of my life, I would say vocational educations are the best way to secure a job after completing your education. Good luck!
Thank you Amir for sharing your story!
