Network and system administration

Nätverks och systemadministration
Take the first step towards your new career as a network and systems administrator and acquire skills in building, managing and troubleshooting networks, among other things. With Sweden being one of the world’s most digitized nations, the demand for people with the right technical skills is high in the labor market. Consider pursuing an education that unlocks access to promising career prospects.

The Education

Technological advancements have propelled Sweden to the forefront of digitization in the EU, providing significant benefits for both individuals and businesses. This digitization has increased efficiency in daily life and the economy while also presenting new challenges and vulnerabilities. Businesses and societal functions rely on stable computer equipment, software, and networks. A minor error can have serious consequences for both companies and individuals. The need for expertise in network and system administration is crucial and impacts all industries today.

This program focuses on practical tasks that provide you with insight into real-world technical challenges. The education highly values practical skills and combines theoretical knowledge with hands-on experience. You will learn to manage and optimize information flow and network access, including system administration for both networks and servers.

The program also covers the structure and function of computers, as well as troubleshooting and performance optimization of networks. You will gain a comprehensive understanding of IT security and how to create customized network solutions for businesses.

During the two semesters, you will receive training in computer building, operation, and performance optimization, with modules focusing on one subject at a time. Finally, you will apply your knowledge in a study project. The teaching combines lectures, online instruction, and practical demonstrations.

After completing the Network and System Administration program, you can work in roles such as:

  • Network Manager
  • System Administrator
  • ICT Administrator
  • IT Support Specialist

The Difference of Studying at Noroff through Nackademin

When you study a program at Noroff through Nackademin, you combine the best of two worlds: an international, high-quality Norwegian education and a Swedish support team that’s with you every step of the way.

The teaching takes place entirely online via Noroff’s platforms, with their instructors and course materials. At the same time, you receive guidance from Nackademin regarding your application, CSN (Swedish student finance), and connections to the Swedish job market. Simple, reliable – and approved by CSN.

CSN and Payment – What You Need to Know

Noroff’s programs have tuition fees, and you will need to apply for both study grants and loans from CSN – including the loan for the tuition fee.

Important to keep in mind:

  • CSN does not pay Noroff directly. You will receive the funds yourself and are responsible for paying the tuition fee to the school.

  • Since Noroff is a foreign institution, this is classified as studies abroad.

Tip! Contact CSN early to check what applies to your specific situation – preferably before accepting your place of study.

Studying at a Foreign School – How It Works

When you study through Noroff, you are formally enrolled at a foreign education provider. This means a few practical differences:

  • CSN: You apply for student aid for studies abroad.

  • Grades: You will receive Norwegian grades/diplomas upon graduation.

  • Payment: You are responsible for paying the tuition fee directly to Noroff.

  • Support: Nackademin serves as your Swedish point of contact for guidance and practical matters.

Course Content and Educational Level

Noroff’s programs are at a post-secondary level and are designed in close collaboration with industry. They include both theoretical studies and practical projects with a clear progression.

Upon graduation, you will receive a diploma from Noroff, which is equivalent to a qualified vocational education. This makes you attractive on both the Swedish and international job markets.

English – What’s Required?

Since the instruction is entirely in English, it’s important that you feel comfortable with:

  • Reading course materials and instructions in English

  • Writing assignments, reports, and projects in English

  • Communicating with teachers and fellow students in English

You don’t need to be completely fluent – but a solid foundation in English is essential to benefit from the program.
